The PhD Colloquium is a unique opportunity for PhD students working on business
model-related topics to engage with leading international scholars and fellow
doctoral candidates. The event provides feedback on research projects, guidance
on academic careers, and networking opportunities within the business model
research community.
Date of the PhD Colloquium
The PhD Colloquium will take place on June 9, 2026, the day before the official
opening of the Business Model Conference.
Objectives
- To provide PhD students with constructive feedback on their research projects from senior academics
- To foster peer-to-peer exchange among early-stage and advanced PhD candidates
- To discuss publication strategies, academic career paths, and networking opportunities in the business model field
Format
The PhD Colloquium will feature small group discussions in which each PhD student
presents their project in a 15-minute talk. Each project will be assigned to
a senior scholar, who will provide targeted feedback, complemented by comments from peers.
In addition, the Colloquium will include a networking lunch and coffee break reserved
for doctoral students, designed to foster peer-to-peer exchange and strengthen
connections among participants.

Application requirements and process
PhD students are invited to apply by submitting the following:
- Research work:
- Early-stage PhD students (in their first or second year) are asked to submit an extended abstract of at least 3,000 words, outlining the research question, theoretical background, methodology, and expected contributions.
- Late-stage PhD students (advanced in their doctoral work) are asked to submit a full paper between 5,000 and 8,000 words, presenting their research in more detail, including results (if available), and implications.
- A short description of the entire doctoral project, including the main objectives, theoretical background, methodological approach, and expected contribution.
- A short CV (maximum 2 pages).

Eligibility
The Colloquium is open to PhD students at any stage of their doctoral journey.
Early-stage candidates will benefit from feedback on their research design, while
late-stage candidates can refine their analysis and publication strategies.
Fees
Participation in the PhD Colloquium is free of charge. However, if PhD students
wish to also attend the main conference activities on 10-11 June 2026, the conference
registration fee will be required. A reduced registration fee applies for PhD students.
